• Check in time is 3pm. Check out time is 11am. 

• No pets allowed. Service Animals as defined by the ADA are permitted. Emotional Support Animals and Companion Animals are NOT permitted. 

• Primary guest must be age 21 or older.

• All guests age 3 and older count toward maximum room capacity.

• No golf carts are permitted on the property.

• South Wind Motel is not responsible for any customer's personal items including items left in vehicles, parking lot, pool, porches, or left behind in rooms. 

• South Wind Motel will not be held responsible for any accidents on the property resulting in injury. Pool safety is each guest's responsibility. 

• NO SMOKING permitted inside. South Wind Motel is authorized to charge fees for any damaged/missing items, as well as excessive clean-up and/or smoking fees. 

• Eviction without refund is at management's discretion. 

• Deposits are non-refundable if reservation is cancelled or dates altered within 14 days of original check-in date. 

• There are no refunds for early departure.
  

Types of Rooms

Side View: A simple, tidy, classic motel room at the beach, with partial ocean views from the 1st and 2nd floor common porches. Each room offers two full sized double beds and will accommodate up to four adults. Standard rooms include a small refrigerator and microwave. A limited number of side view rooms include a small kitchenette area. Rental includes one vehicle parking pass.

Oceanfront: This is the classic beachfront motel room, equipped with your own private oceanfront balcony. Each room has two full sized double beds and accommodates up to four adults. Standard rooms include a small refrigerator and microwave. A limited number of oceanfront rooms include a small kitchenette area. Rental includes one vehicle parking pass.

Family Sized: We have multiple options for groups of 5-8 guests. XL Side View Rooms are larger than the average Side View, and each includes a pull out futon in addition to the standard full sized double beds. Each XL Side View room includes a small kitchenette area, and accommodates up to 6 guests. Rental includes one vehicle parking pass. Our Family Suite is one of a kind, the former owners suite converted into a 2-bedroom beachside apartment. This room's spacious master bedroom has one full size double bed, private full bathroom, and private entrance. The second bedroom has two full sized beds and its own half bathroom. There is another full bathroom for the common area of the suite, as well as a small kitchen and dining space, and the open living room contains a daybed for extra sleeping space. Take in oceanfront views from your living room and from your semi-private porch. Accommodates up to 7 adults. Rental includes up to two vehicle parking passes. Another option for those looking for extra space or separate bedrooms is a pair of adjoining rooms. Limited adjoining rooms are available throughout the property and are most conveniently reserved by calling our office.

Our Story

Your hosts have been renting rooms on Pleasure Island for nearly 40 years. The island was a family retreat for both of them growing up, so it was the natural next step for them in 1984 to escape the corporate world and move to their favorite beach to search for their own adventure. A hurricane-damaged Carolina Beach motel with a for sale sign in the window became the opportunity for them to jump right into their dream, and they haven't looked back.

They restored the Seashore Motor Lodge to it's former glory as a classic fisherman's haunt and seaside family gem. Living on site and raising their family while managing a seasonal business was challenging, but fulfilling. In 1991 they decided to expand and went into business in Kure Beach at the South Wind Motel. Next door to the pier was the ideal place to continue offering their brand of family-friendly and fishermen-friendly accommodations in the heart of their favorite place on earth. Today all of the families behind the scenes at South Wind Motel strive to honor the traditions of southern hospitality and wish to share their love of Pleasure Island with all who come passing through.
